Donburi is rice together
with toppings consisting of meat, vegetables, fishor other ingredients
simmered together and served in bowl.
When speaking about
donburi, toppings is the important of attention, but rice equally important
with toppings. Japanese
people can use any kind of topping their can imagine. it's best to use
fluffy and soft Japanese rice for Donburi.
Four Types Of Donburi Dishes

Type 1
>> Ingredients with Egg
This Donburi
consists of an egg, mixed over other toppings and also rice to add a fluffy
texture and give the Donburi a mild flavor. Any ingredients can be combined
with eggs.
This type such as
oyako-don, chicken katsudon, ten toji-don (tempura
and egg), gyu toji-don (thinly sliced beef and egg), Katsu-don, una tama-don
(eel and egg) and konohadon ( fish cake,fried tofu, vegetables, and egg).

Type 2
>> Tempura
Any variety of
tempura used for topping of a donburi and add special thick sauce for this
donburi.
After being
deep-fried, tempura is dipped in the special thick sauce before being added on
the rice. More special thick sauce is poured over the donburi and tempura to
complete the Donburi dish.
This type such as
Tendon, yasai tendon (assortment of vegetable tempura), ebi tendon (shrimp
tempura) and kakiage-don (tempura using an assortment of chopped).
Type 3 >>
Fresh Seafood
With
Sashimi-quality, raw fish for toppings for this donburi. Formally Japanese
people can put any ingredients on top, but there are some famous combinations,
such as ikura (salmon roe), uni (sea urchin).
This type such as
ikuradon, Kaisendon, sake ikuradon,uni ikuradon, tekkadon and maguro
yamakakedon.

Such as Unadon,
butadon, gyudon, sauce katsudon (pork cutlets with thick sauce),, ebi chilidon
(spicy shrimp), tori karadon (fried chicken), miso katsudon (pork cutlets with
miso-based sauce) and mabodon (tofu in spicy meat sauce).
