Izakaya Review

Izakaya were traditionally is a places where Japanese peoples drank sake or beer after work. izakaya or 居酒屋 is a type of Japan's drinking sake, establishment and serves food to accompany the sake. Izakaya are casual places for after work drinking in Japan.

The name "izakaya" is a word consisting of "i">>to stay and "sakaya">>sake shop, indicating that izakaya allowed customers to sit drink sake.

Izakaya are also known as akachōchin or red lantern in daily dialogue, because these paper-lanterns traditionally found in izakaya(in front).

Many izakaya gives a choice of food, sake and seating, the menu displayed on walls or also on the table(Picture menus are common larger). Food & your drink are brought to the seating(the bill at the end).
Normally! will be given an oshibori/towel to clean hands and otōshi or tsukidashi as tiny snack and appetizer .
